Feb. 8 - Feb. 12

Chapel: Monday, February 5
All are welcome to attend the K-2 chapel held in Monscheke Hall from 2:25 p.m.- 3:00 p.m.

Valentine's Day Party: Friday, February 12
We will be celebrating Valentine's Day during the last part of our day on Friday, from 2:15- 3:00 p.m. Students will be playing games, doing a small craft, eating some snacks and passing out valentines. A list will be going home this week with each child's name, please include a valentine for everyone in the class if your child chooses to bring valentines, thank you!
 
Speech Meet
Your child will be coming home this week with a piece chosen for the Speech Meet Program. Pieces are chosen from three categories; poetry, fables, bible verse. Your child will be responsible for memorizing his/her piece and participating in an in-class meet in front of their classmates and two judges. The in-class meet will be during the week of March 7-11. Two students from each class within each category will be chosen to participate in the all-school speech meet, during the following week of March. NO SCHOOL: Monday, February 15
In observance of President's Day there will be NO SCHOOL, enjoy the long weekend!

Upcoming Field-Trip: Friday, February 19
We have the privilege of viewing the performance of "The Little Mermaid" presented by Christian Youth Theater (CYT). The performance begins at 12:30 p.m. and we will be walking to the Crocker Theater on the Cabrillo College campus. Please get those permission slips returned!
Very Important Person Project: Due February 22
Information has been sent home for your child's VIP Project! This will be 50% of his/her Social Studies grade for the third quarter! After receiving the information, please ask if you have any questions!
Homework Changes
Spelling words have increased to 15 words per week, although homework only includes 10 of these words. Students write all 15 in their Student Planners at the beginning of the week and they are posted on the blog as well. Math homework has been increased to two pages, both pages are to be done at home and returned the following day along with their spelling homework.
Spelling words and homework for the week are as follows:
chew, tooth, fruit, soup, stew, room, you, suit, tools, flew
Monday: Spelling- 3x each, Math- 7.11, Reading- 15 minutes
Tuesday: Spelling- vowel sort, Math- 7.12, Reading- 15 minutes
Wednesday: Spelling- 10 sentences, Math- Chpt. 7 Review Reading- 15 minutes
Thursday: Spelling- ABC order, Math- No Homework (test in class), Reading 15 minutes
