Week 14

 We are in full holiday spirit at school. Check-out what's coming up and mark the dates on your calendars!

Campfire Support
Our Second Grade classes have been given a family to support during this holiday season that lost everything in the recent fires near Paradise. If you'd like to purchase a gift or gift card to support our family we will be taking donations until Friday, December 7th. Please send the item(s) with your child or drop them off in the office and we'll make sure they get to the right family! Thank you for your generosity!

Spirit Day: December 7th: Plaid/Flannel Day
Students are welcome to wear their plaid/flannel clothing to celebrate our December Spirit day!

Christmas Around the World Project: Due December 17th
Students came home with a packet of information pertaining to this project. The packet also included a scoring rubric. You can start by choosing a country from around the world and researching how they celebrate Christmas.

Cookies, Carols, Cocoa: December 18
Please join us for a festive afternoon in the Main Auditorium from 2:15- 3:00 pm. Students K-5 will perform Christmas songs and we will celebrate with cookies and cocoa afterward, hope to see you there!

Half-Day/ Christmas Break: December 21- January 4
Friday the 21st is a Half-Day, students will be dismissed at 12:00 pm. Crosswalk will be available until 6:00 pm. Enjoy the Christmas break, see you back in the New Year!

Fingerprinting
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, we are asking all parents and family members to become fingerprinted. This is a $79 cost and will allow you to drive on field trips and volunteer in the classroom and around campus. Let the office know if you are interested!

Homework is sent home as a packet every Friday. The packet is to be returned the following Friday and may include:

Spelling Words (Consonant Digraphs):
near, dear, ear, deer, steer, cheer, verb, perch, here, where

Fluency Page: please time your child while they read the passage aloud. Record their words read in ONE MINUTE, subtract mistakes and write remaining words read correctly. Then have them complete this a second time to produce a second set of scores. don't forget to answer the comprehension questions at the bottom and complete the back of this page as well!

Spelling: students should complete the spelling practice sheet that goes with that week's words. 

Super Speed Words: Please time your child for the given amount and have them recite the word list to you. Mark where he/she stopped

Weekly Math Pages: These will be pulled from our Investigations3 math curriculum. Approximately 1-2 per week.

Super Speed Numbers: Please time your child for the given amount and have them recite the number list to you. Mark where he/she stopped

Math Fact Practice: Have your child take a practice math fact test at least 3 times per week to prepare for Friday's timed test! 1 min 30 sec!

*Please read 15 minutes 5x's a week and record on monthly reading log. 7 completed reading logs earns a special treat at the end of the year!

Week 12


Week 12
A huge thank you to all the families who took the time to meet with me during out Parent/Teacher Conference week. It is a blessing to teach your children, each of them bring so much joy and life to our classroom! I also really appreciate the fun new books that were donated to our classroom, THANK YOU! We are continuing to discuss Plant Adventures in Science and Native American cultures in Social Studies.

November 20: Thanksgiving Feast
Both classes will be feasting together, have asked parents to come and participate as well as  bring food for us to enjoy! There are still a few items we are in need of, connect with me if you'd like to bring something. The Feast will take place in our classroom from 11:30-12:00pm on Tuesday, November 20th, hope to see you at the feast!

Scholastic Book Fair: November 6-9
Support our school by purchasing books at our Scholastic Book Fair. The Book Fair will be open before and after school as well during conferences Tuesday through Friday.
Parent/Teacher Conferences: November 6-9
These are half-days for students, dismissed at 12:00 p.m. Crosswalk is available all week and is free for your child during their conference time. You will be receiving a request for a scheduled date/time. Please confirm if that time slot works for you, if not, we can adjust and make some changes.
Looking forward to meeting together!
