Jan. 26- Jan. 30

We have ALOT going on in the next month or so, check-it-out:

Second Quarter Character Trait Award Chapel: Monday, January 26th
Congratulations to the following students who will be receiving a Character Trait award during chapel on Monday the 26th:
Aliyah N., Sofia A., Michael G., and Charlie D.
All are welcome to attend chapel, we meet in Monscheke Hall from 2:25-3:00 p.m. 
 
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: Friday, January 30th
Come see the school presentation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! Doors to the Main Auditorium open at 6:15 p.m., the show starts at 7:00 p.m. Hope to see you there!

Valentine's Party: Thursday, February 12th
We will celebrate Valentine's Day this year on Thursday. A list of all the students in our class will be sent home prior to the party if you choose to send in cards/ valentine's with your child.  All are welcome to attend the party, 2:00-3:00 p.m. Look for a Shutterfly list of items that you can donate or bring for the party if you'd like!
 
NO SCHOOL: MONDAY, FEBRUARY 16th
In observance of President's Day there will be no school or crosswalk, enjoy the long weekend!

CHANGE OF DATE!!
Field Trip: Friday, February 20th 
I apologize for the mis-communication, there is a change of date! Mark your calendars, our next field trip will be on Friday, February 20th. We will be walking to Cabrillo College to watch the Christian Youth Theater (CYT) performance of Beauty and the Beast. The performance begins at 12:30 p.m., we will walk over around noon.  Please plan on packing a lunch for your child that day, as we will eat earlier in the day before walking over to the auditorium at Cabrillo. Tickets have already been purchased for students and adults, so chaperones will be limited. More information and permission slips will be sent home in the next few weeks in your child's Student Planner!

Very Important Person Project: Due, Monday, February 23rd
Information will be sent home by the end of  the week with instructions and details about this specific project! All projects will be displayed at Open House on Thursday, February 26th!

OPEN HOUSE: Thursday, February 26th
Come see what your student has been working on all year, classrooms will be open from 7-8 p.m. See you there!

Thursday: Spelling- ABC Order, Math- 6.7,  Reading 15 minutes

In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, there will be no school or crosswalk, enjoy the long weekend!

No spelling words for the week, it is an assessment week. Students do not have a spelling test on Friday.

Here's what is going on this week:


Mitchellville is Underway!
Congratulations to all the students in our class who are now employed in Mitchellville! Starting Monday each child will be paid for their job and will be responsible to pay their rent on the following Friday. You may want to help your child be as prepared as possible by supplying them with their own pencil sharpener, pencils, erasers, and Crayons or coloring tools. For each pencil and eraser to purchase in-class will be $2 as well as to use our class pencil sharpener. 
Looking forward to the remainder of the school year in Mitchellville!

Additional Spelling Words
You will notice 5 additional spelling words added to the blog each week and written in your child's planner. Each student will be responsible for knowing all 15 words for our spelling test on Fridays, however, only 10 of the words will be on the nightly homework!

Welcome back from our winter break! I hope you had a fantastic time spent with friends and family, here's what we have going on this week:


Mitchellville Begins!
We have talked at length in-class about our classroom becoming a city, help your child to pick a few jobs that would fit their personality and giftings during this first week back. I sent home all the Mitchellville Laws, Jobs Available, and a Job Application. When students return, their desks will have been moved into an apartment or house configuration, each with their own classroom address. Students will have one week to apply for a job and be hired before payday and rent begin the following week. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
