Jan.8- Jan.12

Week 19
Welcome back! I hope you had a restful and relaxing break spent with friends and family! We are jumping right back into things, you'll notice that our students will now be studying 15 spelling words each week instead of 10. ALL words will be in their Student Planners. We will also begin practicing for a play that we'll be performing in the spring, "Vacation to Mars."

NO SCHOOL: MONDAY, JANUARY 15
In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. day, there will be no school, enjoy the long weekend!

Field Trip: Monday, January 22
Thank you to all of you who have already turned in permission slips and have offered to drive. Please note this date on your calendars, students will need to bring a lunch that day and a booster seat if needed. 

Mitchellville
I sent home information over the break about Mitchellville. Look this over with your child and choose 2-3 jobs that would be a good fit for him/her, seeing as they may not receive their first choice. Students will have a full week after we return to apply for a job! I am looking forward to our little city!

Week 17
We'll be working on a lot of fun holiday projects this week. Ask your students to recall the story "The Memory Coat" that we read for Social Studies! What a good lesson to learn about bravery and the things that matter most in life.

Christmas Around the World Project: Due Monday, December 18
Students will be coming home this week with the full instructions, poster paper included, for this project! Each child will choose a country from around the world to research how they celebrate Christmas. The poster must include 5 interesting facts and at least 2 pictures (these can all be hand-drawn, printed, or typed out). Students should also be prepared to give a short oral report on the country of their choosing. The final part of the project is to bring a holiday treat for 22 students, specifically related to their country that is traditionally eaten during the holidays. Good luck, have fun, and please don't hesitate to email with any questions! Can't wait to see the final products!

Join us for a festive afternoon in the Main Auditorium from 2-3 p.m. All students will lead us in some fun carols and you can enjoy a cookie and cocoa after ward.

The feast will take place on Tuesday, November 21st, from 12:00- 12:30 p.m.

Week 10
We are nearing the end of First Quarter and I am looking forward to meeting with our classroom families during our Parent Teacher Conference time. I will be sending home a confirmation for the conference time and date on Monday!

Serve the Bay: October 21
If you'd like to be involved in serving our local bay area Serve the Bay is a great way to get involved. If you'd like more information on ways for you and your family to help out please see the office!

Book Report: Due October 23
Students have all chosen a book for their report, yeah!! I have sent home information regarding the project, please choose one option to work on with your child. Have him/her be prepared to share their project with the class. Looking forward to seeing all the creative projects turned in on October 23rd. Please don't hesitate to email with questions!

Hurricane Harvey Relief
We have a family that will be going to Texas at the end of October to deliver new children's clothing to those in need. If you'd like to donate new articles of clothing send them with your child to school, we will make sure they get passed along for the hurricane relief!
 Items must be turned in by October 31st!

Week 9

Drive for Schools
Information was sent home regarding this amazing fund raiser for our schools. Please let me know if you have any questions. All tickets need to be turned in by October 20th!

October 20: Minimum Day

Movie Night: October 20
Bring a blanket or some chairs and join us for the annual TLCS Movie Night! Food trucks will be avialable starting at 6:00 pm, the movie  ("SING") will start at 7:00 pm on or near the field of our campus!
