Oct. 2- Oct. 6

Week 7
I can't believe it's already October!! I am looking forward to our field trip this week, enjoy this beautiful fall weather!

Field Trip: Tuesday, October 3
This is our first field trip to the Mt. Hermon Adventure Challenge Course. Mt. Hermon is located in Felton and the course we'll be completing is called Discovery Grove, specifically designed for children ages 7-12. Students need to wear closed toed shoes, pants/ leggings and layered clothing on top. It can tend to be cool when we get there and warm when leave. I will provide snacks for the morning of when we arrive, we should return to school before lunch.

Information was sent home regarding this amazing fund raiser for our schools. Please let me know if you have any questions. All tickets need to be turned in by October 20th!

I heard a lot of kind and encouraging words this week in our classroom. Students are definitely practicing our class motto:

Students will be dismissed at 12:00 p.m. Crosswalk will be available until 6:00 p.m.

Homework is sent home as a packet every Friday. The packet is to be returned the following Friday and includes:

Spelling Words:
NO SPELLING this week, it is an assessment week for the end of Unit 1

Fluency Page: please time your child while they read the passage aloud. Record their words read in ONE MINUTE, subtract mistakes and write remaining words read correctly. Then have them complete this a second time to produce a second set of scores. don't forget to answer the comprehension questions at the bottom and complete the back of this page as well!

Spelling: students should complete the spelling practice sheet that goes with that week's words. 

Spelling Story: To further practice spelling this week's words as well as gain writing practice, students should write a story using all 10 of their spelling words.

Super Speed Words: Please time your child for the given amount and have them recite the word list to you. Mark where he/she stopped

Weekly Math Pages: These will be pulled from our Investigations3 math curriculum. Approximately 1-2 per week.

Super Speed Numbers: Please time your child for the given amount and have them recite the number list to you. Mark where he/she stopped

Math Fact Practice: Have your child take a practice math fact test at least 3 times per week to prepare for Friday's timed test! 1 min 30 sec!

*Please read 15 minutes 5x's a week and record on monthly reading log. 7 completed reading logs earns a special treat at the end of the year!

Week 6
We have been talking about "Plant Adventures" in Science over the last few weeks, ask your child how his/ her root is growing in class! Looking forward to another great week together!

Sept. 18- Sept.22

Week 5
We will be doing some apple tasting in class this week and graphing the results, yumm! Please note the dates to save on the calendar in the upcoming weeks!

Field Trip: Tuesday, October 3

A permission slip went home in your child's Student Planner on Friday, please return it as soon as you can. If you would like to drive please notify me on the bottom portion of the slip. We will also be sending home a release form for the course itself, we'll need to have those in hand the day of the field trip. Mt. Hermon is located in Felton and the course we'll be completing is called Discovery Grove, specifically designed for children ages 7-12. If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to email me! 
Please sign and return the waiver for Mt. Hermon, sent home in Friday folders! I will notify drivers and chaperones this week, please make sure you have updated information regarding insurance and background check in the office!

Week 4
We are making an apple pie in class this week, yumm! Ask your child if they can speak any words in Spanish to you, they are loving our Spanish class each week.
