Feb. 27- Mar. 3

It's our 25th week of school! Dr. Suess' birthday is this week, yeah!! We will also be starting to study dinosaurs in Science and people who make a difference in Social Studies. Please note the up-coming dates to mark on your calendars, have a great week!


Minimum Days: March 10 and March 17
Students will be dismissed at 12:00 p.m., Cross walk will be available until 6:00 p.m.

Field Trip: Friday, March 24
We will be attending the CYT (Christian Youth Theater) performance of Peter Pan at the Crocker Theater, located on the Cabrillo campus. Tickets have already been purchased, so chaperones will be limited. We will walk over at 11:30 a.m., the play begins at 12:00 p.m. and we will return to the Twin Lakes campus before dismissal. More information and permission slips to come!

End of 3rd Quarter: Friday, March 24
Please be working on reaching those AR goals with your child at home, they have until the end of 3rd quarter to meet or exceed their goal to join others for a pizza party!!

Speech Meet: Week of March 27-31
You should have received an email with the up-coming Speech meet information. We are having students select their own pieces this year but each piece must be approved by their teacher. The email included several selections that were appropriate for Second grade. Students can choose a piece from 1 of 3 categories; Bible Verse, Poetry, Fable/Short Story. Students will recite their selections in class during the week of March 27-31. And 1 student from each category will be chosen to participate in the All School Speech Meet, April 4th. Please have your child bring a copy of his/her selection to be approved by the end of this week.  I will be sending home pre-selected pieces with children this week if I have not heard from them about a piece they have chosen. Please let me know if you have questions regarding Speech Meet.

Second Grade "National Symbols" Play: Friday, March 31
Mark your calendars, you do not want to miss this event!! We have already begun practice in-class for our Second Grade performance. This will include both Second Grade classes and the performance will be on Friday, March 31 from 9:15- 10:00 a.m. in Monscheke Hall. All rehearsals and preparations will take place in the classroom, hope to see you there!!!

It's our 24th week of school! We have the Sherriff's Department coming to visit this week, Open House to look forward to and I can't wait to hear all the presentations on the students' VIP projects.  Please don't forget to bring in your Speech Meet piece for approval!

Of you'd like to come and cheer on your child we will be running in the gym from 9:35-9:50 a.m. Don't forget to have your child wear good running shoes and comfortable clothes.
