Mar. 26- Mar. 29

Week 30
You have about a week to reach the 3rd Quarter AR goal! Those that meet their goal for this quarter will celebrate with a pizza party! Get to reading!!

VIP Project Due: March 26
 I can't wait to see the final products! Students will share their display boards on the 26th and parents can come and see all the projects on the 27th (9-10 am). The following facts should be displayed on the board along with a hole for your child's head to poke threw in-order to present their facts; Name of VIP, Birthdate and Death (if applicable), City/ Country of origin, How they made an impact on our history or biggest accomplishment, 3 fun facts. Pictures may be added if you'd like. Students will receive extra- credit if they dress up as that person for the interactive presentation.

Second Grade Play: Character Matters
We have already started practicing our lines and songs for our upcoming Second Grade play. We hope you can join us for the performance on Tuesday, May 8th at 9:15 am in Monscheke Hall.

Homework is sent home as a packet every Friday. The packet is to be returned the following Friday and may include:

Spelling Words:

Fluency Page: please time your child while they read the passage aloud. Record their words read in ONE MINUTE, subtract mistakes and write remaining words read correctly. Then have them complete this a second time to produce a second set of scores. don't forget to answer the comprehension questions at the bottom and complete the back of this page as well!

Spelling: students should complete the spelling practice sheet that goes with that week's words. 

Super Speed Words: Please time your child for the given amount and have them recite the word list to you. Mark where he/she stopped

Mar. 19- Mar. 23

Week 29
We've been talking a lot about weather as Spring is approaching and we've been having fun discussion about dinosaurs in class! We celebrated a little Luck of the Irish when some sneaky Leprechauns left some gold for us to find. Students had fun drawing a blueprint of a Leprechaun trap and graphing Lucky Charms on Friday! Enjoy the week!

Mar. 12- Mar. 16

Week 28
In Social Studies this week we discussed American Symbols and in Science we are continuing to experiment with "Material Magic!" Looking forward to hearing all the Speech Meet pieces this week, don't forget to get started on those VIP projects!

In-Class Speech Meet: March, 15
Please be practicing with your child at home the Speech Meet piece they have selected! The In-Class meet will take place on March 15, students should have their piece memorized and ready to present in front of their classmates. Two children from each category will be chosen to advance to the All School Speech Meet on March 21 on which parents may attend.

Half-Day: Friday, March 16
Students will be dismissed at 12:00. Crosswalk will be available until 6:00 pm.

TLCS Live Auction:  March, 16
We will have both an online and live auction this year to raise money for our STEAM program. Our class has made an item that will be available to purchase and there will also be a teacher experience with Mrs. McCutchen that will be available too!

We had our first Mitchellville Marketplace in which the students could purchase coupons! It was amazing to see some of our students who had saved more than $100 in their banks. Fantastic job being fiscally responsible!

Mar. 5- Mar. 9

Week 27
Wow! We had a busy week last week with our field trip to see "Alice In Wonderland,"  celebrating Dr. Suess' birthday and a Character Trait chapel. In Science we did a great experiment comparing the properties of plastic and candy, ask your child about "Camp Way Too Hot!"
