Mar. 27- Mar. 31

It's our 29th week of school!  We have been practicing in-class for our upcoming play, " American Symbols" hope you can make it!  Please note the up-coming dates to mark on your calendars, have a great week!

Congratulations: 3rd Quarter AR
Congratulations to 7 students who were able to reach their 3rd quarter AR goal! We will be celebrating on Tuesday with a pizza party during lunch! 4th quarter goals have been posted, get to reading to reach the final quarter prize, ICE CREAM SUNDAES!!

In- Class Speech Meet: March 29
Students will recite their Speech Meet piece in front of the in-class judges on Wednesday, March 29. One student from each category will be chosen to participate in the All School Speech Meet, April 4th. All students have been given or have selected a piece, please practice at home. Please let me know if you have questions regarding Speech Meet.

Class Party: "Bring a Stuffy Day", Thursday, March 30
Our class has earned a party for excellent behavior in our pull-out classes! They have chosen to "bring a stuffy to school day." Please allow your child to bring a small stuffy to sit on their desk or in their chair with them on Thursday! Good job Second Grade!!

Second Grade "National Symbols" Play: Friday, March 31
Mark your calendars, you do not want to miss this event!! This will include both Second Grade classes and the performance will be on Friday, March 31 from 9:15- 10:00 a.m. in Monscheke Hall. All rehearsals and preparations will take place in the classroom, hope to see you there!!!

The following are our spelling words and homework for the week:

Monday: Spelling- 10 Sentences, Math- 9.5, Reading- 15 minutes

Thursday: Spelling- ABC order/Pre-Test, Math- 9.8, reading- 15 minutes
Friday: Reading- 15 minutes

Field Trip: Friday, March 24
We will be attending the CYT (Christian Youth Theater) performance of Peter Pan at the Crocker Theater, located on the Cabrillo campus. Tickets have already been purchased, so chaperones will be limited. We will eat lunch early, so please pack a lunch for your child that day. We will walk over at 11:00 a.m., the play begins at 11:30 a.m. and we will return to the Twin Lakes campus before dismissal. Please send your permission slip back with your child if you have not already!
End of 3rd Quarter: Friday, March 24
Please be working on reaching those AR goals with your child at home, they have until the end of 3rd quarter to meet or exceed their goal to join others for a pizza party!!

3rd Quarter Character Trait Chapel: Thursday, March 16th
Congratulations to the following students who will be receiving a Character Trait Award this quarter:

Minimum Day: March 17
Students will be dismissed at 12:00 p.m., Cross walk will be available until 6:00 p.m.

You should have received an email with the up-coming Speech meet information. We are having students select their own pieces this year but each piece must be approved by their teacher. The email included several selections that were appropriate for Second grade. Students can choose a piece from 1 of 3 categories; Bible Verse, Poetry, Fable/Short Story. Students will recite their selections in class during the week of March 27-31. And 1 student from each category will be chosen to participate in the All School Speech Meet, April 4th. All students have been given or have selected a piece, please practice at home. Please let me know if you have questions regarding Speech Meet.
