January 4- January 8

Welcome back! I hope you enjoyed the holiday break with friends and family! We have a lot going on in the new year, make sure to mark your calendars!

Character Trait Award Chapel: Monday, January 4
Congratulations to the students who will be receiving an award for second quarter:

Mitchellville
Please replenish you child's classroom supplies (crayons/markers, pencils, erasers, personal pencil sharpener etc.) Starting in the new year Mitchellville will take effect. Your child will be responsible for his/her own supplies and will need to apply for a classroom job during our first week back. A flyer went home during the break with information about Mitchellville, please ask if you have any questions!

End of Second Quarter: Friday, January 15
Report cards for second quarter will be handed out the following week!

NO SCHOOL: Monday, January 18
 In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day there will be no school, enjoy the long weekend!

Half-Day: Friday, January 29
Students will be dismissed at 12:00 p.m. Cross-Walk will be available until 6:00 p.m.

Beginning in January, spelling words will increase to 15 words per week and math homework will become double-sided after chapter 6.

The following are our spelling words and homework for the week:
wore, core, roar, store, sort, tore, form, fort, board, north, should, high, near, learn, world

Monday: Spelling- 3x each, Math- 6.1, Reading- 15 minutes
Tuesday: Spelling- Vowel Team Sort, Math- 6.2, Reading 15 minutes
Wednesday: Spelling- 10 sentences, Math- 6.3, Reading- 15 minutes
Thursday: Spelling- ABC order, Math- 6.4, Reading 15 minutes

Carols, Cookies, and Cocoa: Tuesday, December 15
Join us for carols and treats, in celebration of the Christmas season! We will gather in the main auditorium from 3:15 p.m.- 4:15 p.m.
Christmas Celebration: Thursday, December 17
All are welcome to join our class for our Christmas celebration on Thursday, December 17th from 2:15-3:00 p.m. We will be playing some Minute-to-Win-It games, decorating cookies, eating snacks and reading the Christmas story!
Half-Day: Friday, December 18
Students will be dismissed at 12:00 p.m. Crosswalk will be available until 6:00 p.m.
Christmas Break: December, 19- January 3

Mitchellville: Coming in the New Year
We've already been talking a lot about what to expect with the arrival of Mitchellville in the new year. During the break, your child will bring home a flyer of the Mitchellville laws and a job application with a description of the jobs available. Encourage them to choose 2-3 jobs that would fit their strengths that they could apply for as they return! Looking forward to beginning our in-class city!

All are welcome to join the K-2 chapel in Monscheke Hall from 2:25- 3:00 p.m.

Cookies! Cookies! Cookies!
Calling all bakers! We will be selling cookies/baked goods at the Friday Christmas Service to raise money for new desks! We're asking each family to donate 2 dozen treats to provide for the bake sale. If you can make this possible please drop the goodies off in our classroom or at the office on the morning of Friday, December 11th. THANK YOU!!!
