Week 37


Week 37
Please be working on reading at home, students will have until May 31 to reach their 4th Quarter AR goal. Reading logs will also be counted before the end of the year, for a special prize 
7 or more completed reading logs must  have been turned in! 

 Mark your calendars with the following important dates and keep an eye out for emails and information in your child's Student Planner!
Don't forget to log your child's reading at home, practice Math Facts and take AR quizzes!!

Minimum Day: Friday, May 24
Students will be dismissed at 12:00 pm. Crosswalk will be available until 6:00 pm.

NO SCHOOL: Monday, May 27
In observance of Memorial Day, there is NO SCHOOL! Enjoy the long weekend!

Pancakes & PJ's: Monday, June 3
It's time to celebrate the end of the year!! We'll be lounging in our PJ's, enjoying breakfast in our classroom! Students will get to play board games when they are finished devouring pancakes!!
YUM!

All-School Picnic: Wednesday, June 5
Join us on the field at 11 am for the All School Picnic! Bring a chair or blanket, you can bring your own lunch or pre-order food (in the office) from our BBQ to eat!

Fingerprinting
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, we are asking all parents and family members to become fingerprinted. This is a $79 cost and will allow you to drive on field trips and volunteer in the classroom and around campus. Let the office know if you are interested!

Homework is sent home as a packet every Friday. The packet is to be returned the following Friday and may include:

Spelling Words:
afternoon, mailbox, seaweed, viewpoint, grasslands, maybe, thunderstorm, highway, raincoat, uprooted, cone, sing, seat, dice,cuff

Fluency Page: please time your child while they read the passage aloud. Record their words read in ONE MINUTE, subtract mistakes and write remaining words read correctly. Then have them complete this a second time to produce a second set of scores. don't forget to answer the comprehension questions at the bottom and complete the back of this page as well!

Spelling: students should complete the spelling practice sheet that goes with that week's words. 

Super Speed Words: Please time your child for the given amount and have them recite the word list to you. Mark where he/she stopped

Super Speed Numbers: Please time your child for the given amount and have them recite the number list to you. Mark where he/she stopped

Math Fact Practice: Have your child take a practice math fact test at least 3 times per week to prepare for Friday's timed test! 1 min 30 sec!

*Please read 15 minutes 5x's a week and record on monthly reading log. 7 completed reading logs earns a special treat at the end of the year!
