Week 3

Thank you to all who have donated items to our classroom and to those volunteering in our enrichment classes! Mark your calendars for our first field trip and Picture Day (information below). We'll be making an apple pie in class on Monday, YUMM!! 

Don't forget to be logging your child's reading at home, practicing Math Facts and taking AR quizzes!!

Scholastic Book Orders Due: September 11

 Students came home with a Scholastic Book order form. If you'd like to order books for the month of September, use our class code (found at the top) to place an order on-line! All orders need to be submitted on-line or to given to me on or before September 11, thank you!

Drive for Schools: Begins September 13

Ticket sales begin September 13 for our annual Drive for Schools fundraiser. Students will gather for an All School Pep Rally on the morning of the 13th to get excited!

School Pictures: Monday, September 17

We will be taking our Fall school pictures on Monday, September 17. Our time slot is 1:40 pm. If you'd like your child to change into something specific for the pictures, please place it in their backpack. They will be given an opportunity to change beforehand.

Field Trip: Wednesday, October 10

We will be headed up to Mount Hermon Camp and Conference Center in Felton to participate in a challenge course. We will leave school at 8:45 am and return by 11:45 am. Permission slips and waivers will be sent home next week. We will have room for 10 adult chaperones/drivers, please indicate on the permission slip if you'd like to join. 

Don't forget that you must be fingerprinted in-order to attend, thank you!

Fingerprinting

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, we are asking all parents and family members to become fingerprinted. This is a $79 cost and will allow you to drive on field trips and volunteer in the classroom and around campus. Let the office know if you are interested!

Weekly Homework

Homework is sent home as a packet every Friday. The packet is to be returned the following Friday and may include:

Spelling Words (Long O/U/E):

hole, robe, tune, hope, cute, rule, owe, rude, note, eve

Fluency Page: please time your child while they read the passage aloud. Record their words read in ONE MINUTE, subtract mistakes and write remaining words read correctly. Then have them complete this a second time to produce a second set of scores. don't forget to answer the comprehension questions at the bottom and complete the back of this page as well!

Spelling: students should complete the spelling practice sheet that goes with that week's words. 

Super Speed Words: Please time your child for the given amount and have them recite the word list to you. Mark where he/she stopped

Weekly Math Pages: These will be pulled from our Investigations3 math curriculum. Approximately 1-2 per week.

Super Speed Numbers: Please time your child for the given amount and have them recite the number list to you. Mark where he/she stopped

Math Fact Practice: Have your child take a practice math fact test at least 3 times per week to prepare for Friday's timed test! 1 min 30 sec!

*Please read 15 minutes 5x's a week and record on monthly reading log. 7 completed reading logs earns a special treat at the end of the year!
