Feb.12- Feb. 15


Week 25
WOW! We have a busy week! We will be celebrating Valentine's Day on Wednesday, the Jog-A-Thon is on Thursday and NO SCHOOL on Friday! Enjoy the long weekend!

Valentine's Day: Feb. 14
We will have a small class celebration in the morning of this day, students are encouraged to bring Valentine's for everyone in the class, but this is optional. We will be decorating Valentine's envelopes in class to collect treats and cards!

Jog-A-Thon: February, 15
 Students have come home with a packet of information on how to collect donations towards Jog-A- Thon. All students will have an opportunity practice and prepare while at school and will each be given a t-shirt to wear that day!

Presidents Day Weekend: February 16-21
There will be no school on Friday, February 16 or Monday, February 21. Enjoy the long weekend!

OPEN HOUSE: February, 22 7-8 pm
Come check out what we've been up to this year! All are welcome to see student work on display and to also look at next year third grade classes! Our class auction item will be on display as well. Hope you can make it!

Half-Day: Friday, February 23
Students will be dismissed at 12:00 pm, Crosswalk will be available until 6:00 pm.

Field Trip: Tuesday, February 27
We will leave school at 8:15 am and head to Louden Nelson for the performance of "Alice and Wonderland," put on by CYT. We will return before lunch. Please provide a booster seat if your child needs one for the morning!

In-Class Speech Meet: March, 15
Thank you to all who have selected a Speech meet piece! If your child still needs a selection I will sit down with them next week to choose one to send home to practice. The In-Class meet will take place on March 15, students should have their piece memorized and ready to present in front of their classmates. Two children from each category will be chosen to advance to the All School Speech Meet on March 20 on which parents may attend.

TLCS Live Auction:  March, 16
More information to come! We will have both an online and live auction this year to raise money for our STEAM program. Our class will be making an item that will be available to purchase and there will also be a teacher experience with Mrs. McCutchen that will be available too!

Brag Box
We have been working hard on a President Project in class and I am so impressed with the facts our students are finding and information they are using for the project!  Ask your child which president he/she is researching. The final product will be on display at Open House, hope you can be there!

Weekly Homework
Homework is sent home as a packet every Friday. The packet is to be returned the following Friday and may include:

Spelling Words:
chew, flew, stew, tooth, room, tools, fruit, suit, soup, you

Fluency Page: please time your child while they read the passage aloud. Record their words read in ONE MINUTE, subtract mistakes and write remaining words read correctly. Then have them complete this a second time to produce a second set of scores. don't forget to answer the comprehension questions at the bottom and complete the back of this page as well!

Spelling: students should complete the spelling practice sheet that goes with that week's words. 

Super Speed Words: Please time your child for the given amount and have them recite the word list to you. Mark where he/she stopped

Weekly Math Pages: These will be pulled from our Investigations3 math curriculum. Approximately 1-2 per week.

Super Speed Numbers: Please time your child for the given amount and have them recite the number list to you. Mark where he/she stopped

Math Fact Practice: Have your child take a practice math fact test at least 3 times per week to prepare for Friday's timed test! 1 min 30 sec!

*Please read 15 minutes 5x's a week and record on monthly reading log. 7 completed reading logs earns a special treat at the end of the year!
