Wow! Have we got a busy month coming up! Looking ahead there are few dates and events to mark on your calendar:

Wednesday, February 1st: Report Cards Will be Distributed

Students will no longer be sent home with their report cards, teachers will be handing them directly to a parent or family member. If we do not see you at drop-off or pick-up, the report card will be mailed home.

Thursday, February 2nd: Groundhog Day

Have your student watch the news, look on the comupter, or listen to the radio to see if the the groundhog saw his shadow or not. If they can tell me on Thursday, they will receive a special treat!

Tuesday, February 7th: 100th Day of School!!

We will be celebrating our 100th day of school, ask your student about some of the fun activities we did to commemorate the day!

Tuesday, February 14th: Valentine's Day

We will be making special valentine mail boxes so if you have any cereal boxes or large Kleenex boxes that you could donate we'll take them! We will have a Valentine's Day party in the afternoon. Please make sure that if your child comes to school with valentines that they have one for each student in the class, a list will be sent home the Friday before!

NO SCHOOL Monday, February 20th: President's Day

HALF-DAY Wednesday, February 23rd: Crosswalk available until 6:00 p.m.

Wednesday, February, 23rd: Open House/ Art Show: 7-8 p.m.

Very Important Person Project

For the month of February we'll be learning about very important people in Social Studies. Students will be given directions for a VIP project (going home Feb. 1st) which will include making a 3x5 trading card and a diorama, both of which will be displayed during Open House. The directions will have an extensive list of people for the students to choose from. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions!

The following are our spelling words and home work for the week:

fetch, menu, simmer, devour, among, draw, fault, good, decide, pause

(word wall words to study as well: wing, rest, heat, dice, zone)

Monday: Spelling- 3 times each, Math- 6.5/Math Facts, Reading- 15 minutes

Tuesday: Spelling- 10 Sentences, Math- 6.6/Math Facts, Reading- 15 minutes

Wednesday: Spelling- 5 Definitions, Math- 6.7/Math Facts, Reading- 15 minutes

Thursday: Spelling- ABC Order, Math- 6.8/Math Facts, Reading- 15 Minutes

Friday: Reading- 15 minutes, VIP Project
